Faisal Khan, Nadeesha Weerasekera and Qamar Sadiq produced outstanding individual performances to set up impressive victories for their teams in the ‘A’ Division matches of the Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) Championship.
With the help of a brilliant century by Faisal Khan (186 runs), Al Feroz Youngster defeated Rawal County by a huge margin of 202 runs. During his fine knock Faisal slammed 20 boundaries and three sixes. He also added 192 runs for the second wicket with Qalandar (56 runs). Mujeeb (38 runs), Haroon (25 runs), Imran (15 runs) and Boota (13 runs) also contributed well to help Al Feroz post a huge total of 362 runs after losing seven wickets in 47 overs.
For Rawal County Club Bilal claimed 3 wickets. Chasing the huge total, Rawal County lost their wickets on a regular internal due to some superb bowling from captain Zahid Khan, who took five wickets.
Hafeez also clinched three wickets, while Boota claimed 2 wickets. Israr (36 runs), Sameer (23 runs), Naeem (18 runs), Atif (14 runs), Adil and Awais (12 runs each) were the main scorers as their side bundled out for only 160 runs. Faisal Khan was adjudged man of the match.
In the second match Qamar Sadiq and Mansoor gave outstanding individual performances to register a 7-wicket win over Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ). Batting first, CBQ were bundled out for 143 runs in 37 overs as they failed to provide any resistance to Asian Cricket Club – Qatar Young’s spin attack. Qamar and Mansoor took three wickets each, while Ali Ishtiaq took two wickets for their team. Habeeb (17 runs), Zaheer and Sajjad (18 runs each), Faisal (13 runs), Rusharat (12 runs) were the main scorers for CBQ.
In reply, Asian Cricket Club got off to a poor start, as they lost their three wickets for only 39 runs. Later an unbeaten 105 runs partnership for the fourth wicket between Qamar Sadiq and Awais Malik helped Asian Club reached home comfortably after losing 3 wickets. Qamar Sadiq scored unbeaten 67 runs with the help of six fours and one six. He was well supported by Awais Malik (38 runs, 2 fours and 1 six) and Mansoor (16 runs). Pervez Khan took three wickets for CBQ. Qamar Sadiq was adjudged man of match for his excellent performance.
In another match, Lion (RFC) Cricket Club defeated Bangladesh Cricket Club by four wickets. Winning the toss and selected to bat first, the Bangladesh club scored 217 after the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs. Mujahid (63 runs), Alauddin (23 runs), Shahabuddin (20 runs), Faizullah (17 runs) and Farid (15 runs), Momin (12 runs), Fakhrol and Iqbal (11 runs each) were the main scorers for the Bangladesh Club. Dileepa took four wickets and Madwa took three wickets for Lion Club.
In reply, Nadeesha Weerasekera scored an unbeaten century (117 runs, 15 boundaries) and added 82 runs with his captain Ashan Perera (41 runs) for the fourth wickets as his side reached the target in 44 overs after losing six wickets. Lakshitha also scored 17 runs. Faizullah took three wickets.
