MEEZA officials announcing the launch of two new data centres
IT services and solutions provider MEEZA has announced that two new state-of-the-art data centres are set to be opened in Qatar this year.
The new M-Vault 2 and M-Vault 3 centres are built to the highest international standards and should be operational by the end of 2012, explained officials.
MEEZA made the announcement at Qitcom 2012 yesterday, where representatives gathered to highlight the new services of the centres.
They explained that combined with the initial investment in the first data centre, MEEZA has now invested some QR750mn in the three facilities.
Deputy CEO Ghada el-Rassi said: “Today marks a new milestone for MEEZA, as we deliver two additional Tier III data centres.”
M-Vault 2 is located on its dedicated campus 30km outside Doha, and the LEED platinum certified building is designed and built to Uptime Institute Tier III standards with 99.98% guaranteed availability, she explained.
The centre is scheduled to begin operations at the beginning of the third quarter of the year, and will offer business continuity solutions for key disaster recovery requirements criteria through service delivery and IT experts.
The M-Vault 3, located close to MEEZA’s original centre at QSTP, is set to begin operations on April 15, and is designed to provide services for high density computing, in areas such as research, engineering, healthcare, banking, pharmaceutical and technology sectors. “The building is also LEED gold certified as a result of its sustainable design,” said el-Rassi.
“Our new interconnected, highly secure facilities focus on backup sites, disaster recovery solutions and business continuity solutions while offering managed services to our clients at the same time,” she noted.
The deputy CEO explained that MEEZA has already been providing services to a number of industries, including governmental institutions, the education sector, banking and healthcare.
She said that 26 companies are currently using MEEZA’s services, with 23 utilising them for end to end services, and suggested this number will increase hugely in the near future.
“As an end to end services provider, we are committed to promoting IT innovation and bringing the most advanced solutions to our customers. Our new service offerings reflect this commitment as we provide to industries at all levels, so our clients can focus on their core business,” she said.
El-Rassi also highlighted MEEZA’s support for Qitcom, saying: “We are dedicated to continuous innovation and we have joined Qitcom 2012 as a strategic partner because this annual event has become the premier platform for ICT providers, regulators, policymakers and end-users in this thriving and rapidly developing region.”
