| Northen: joined Renaissance Hotels in 1986 |
Area Vice-President (Middle East) Ibrahim Barghout made the announcement.
The Renaissance Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott, and Marriott Executive Apartments Doha City Center made their entry into the Doha market in October last year.
The properties have been well-received and are steadily becoming established within Qatar’s hospitality industry.
Commenting on the appointment, Barghout said: “We are very excited about John taking over this exciting project in Qatar. We will clearly benefit from his vast global knowledge and multi-property experience. He has held senior positions in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.”
“When a nation like Qatar is in the spotlight, being applauded for its visionary growth plans, we consider it a privilege to partner with them and assist in the process of achieving their goals,” Northen said. “I am looking forward to maximise our properties’ contributions to the development of the tourism and hospitality sector in Doha.”
Northen started his career in Bophuthatswana, in South Africa.
He joined Renaissance Hotels in London, England, in 1986.
