Northen: joined Renaissance Hotels in 1986
Three premium properties of Marriott International – the Renaissance Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott, and Marriott Executive Apartments Doha City Center – have announced the appointment of John Northen as multi-property general manager.
Area Vice-President (Middle East) Ibrahim Barghout made the announcement.
The Renaissance Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott, and Marriott Executive Apartments Doha City Center made their entry into the Doha market in October last year.
The properties have been well-received and are steadily becoming established within Qatar’s hospitality industry.
Commenting on the appointment, Barghout said: “We are very excited about John taking over this exciting project in Qatar. We will clearly benefit from his vast global knowledge and multi-property experience. He has held senior positions in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.”

Northen started his career in Bophuthatswana, in South Africa.
He joined Renaissance Hotels in London, England, in 1986.
