The new Bentley Supersports Light Body
Though the Swiss-made Breitling watches have been around for over a century now, consistency in their looks and the way watches are made has kept the chronograph watches inventor on top of the range till today,  Breitling’s Asia Pacific-Middle East Sales director Tristan Boyer De Bouillane said.
He was speaking to Gulf Times yesterday at the luxury brand’s stand within the Blue Salon pavilion at the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), which is showcasing a rich array of the world’s finest watches and jewelleries by top designers and jewellers across the world.
“Our consistency in the way our watches are made to perfection, as well as how we have been able to maintain the quality of our creations, has distinguished Breitling watches from the rest and we have ensured this for the past 125 years, keeping in the same direction as we started in 1884,” Bouillane maintained.
He mentioned that the company’s relationship with the aviation sector also have significant impact on most of its watches.
Breitling is a luxury brand of Swiss watches produced by Breitling SA, a private company headquartered in Grenchen, Canton of Solothurn (originally founded in Saint-Imier, Bernese Jura by Léon Breitling in 1884).
According to Bouillane, Breitling was the first watch-maker in the world to introduce chronograph automotive watches and the company exclusively offered certified chronometers in all models since 2000.
A chronograph is a specific type of watch that is used as a stopwatch combined with a display watch.
“We are the inventor of chronograph automotive watches because of our strong DNA with the aviation sector as we supply pilots with a special model called Breitling Navitimer, which serves as an instrument for them to navigate, calculate the speed as well as tell the time while in air,” Bouillane said.
Breitling has been producing the Navitimer watches for over 60 years, he said.
Other models by the master watch-maker include recently launched Breitling Chronomat GMT, which tells two different time zones as well as a list of other watches and new Bentley Supersports Light Body.
About the items brought to the DJWE, he said the full collection by the company, including the Bentley Supersports Light Body, are on display at the exhibition.
“We have a full representation of almost all our models being featured here at the exhibition and we are also participating in the show in order to introduce our newly opened boutique, which is our first store in Qatar at the Gate mall in the Blue Salon,” he mentioned.
The new Bentley Supersports Light Body watch was made by Breitling for Bentley in tribute to the milestones in the automobile history and the timepiece is a limited edition that was part of the record-breaking achievement by Bently giving it a name Bentley Supersports ISR.
He described as ‘positive’ the response so far by customers from Qatar and the region towards the new boutique and the Breitling watches in general.
“The Qatari market is becoming very important for most businesses, especially in the past two years because of its market dynamism and aggressiveness, which are similar to what we see in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Therefore, due to that outlook, the future is very positive for our business here,” he said.
Other popular models by Breitling are Breitling Superocean, Breitling for Bentley, Super Avenger 48mm, Super Avenger Avenger 48mm w/diamond bezel, SuperOcean Heritage Chrono 125th anniversary.
Breitling watches cost between QR15,000-50,000 and the bulk of its clientele are those aged between 25-45 years.
