HSBC staff, who participated in the Qatar National Sports Day events have emerged victorious over their colleagues at the Qatar Central Bank during a 3km run on the Corniche.
HSBC Global Banking head Jody Sanderson was the winner in the men (age 31–45) category while Katherine Watson took second place in the women’s category (age 18–30) and Omaima Sulaiman was placed fifth in the women’s (46 plus) category.
“The Qatar National Sport Day is underwriting the aspiration of the Qatar National Vision to invest in human development and create an educated healthy population that will become a capable and motivated workforce. I challenged my colleagues for the race and am proud of the enthusiasm that they have displayed in taking part. This initiative will grow into a major event in Qatar and will most certainly support the idea of a healthy lifestyle and sport awareness in the country,” HSBC in Qatar chief executive officer Abdul Hakeem Mostafawi said.
“Engaging our staff in healthy activities outside the workplace is one of the key elements to create a positive working environment. We are encouraged by the overwhelming involvement of our staff in this event and we will build on this for future activities within the bank,”HR Manager Issa Ali said.
