Former Indian federal minister for labour and surface transport M P Veerendra Kumar on his arrival at Doha International Airport yesterday. Kumar, a veteran Indian socialist leader and president of the Socialist Janata Democratic (SJD) Party is among the recipients of the annual awards instituted by expatriate forum Thrissur Jilla Souhrida Vedi (TJSV). Kumar, who is also the managing editor of Malayalam newspaper group Mathrubhumi has been chosen for his contributions to religious harmony among different groups in India. At the airport he is seen along with TJSV chief patron and Doha-based entrepreneur C K Menon and other members of the forum’s managing committee. The award ceremony will be held tomorrow at MES Indian School grounds.
