Golden Relations CEO Bilal Taha (centre) with local and international comedians at the League of Extraordinary Comedians, volume 5

The fifth edition of the League of Extraordinary Comedians (LXC) took place at the Sheraton hotel over the weekend, where guest comedians Edwin San Juan and Shawn Felipe joined forces with local comedians to entertain an audience of around 700.
The event was organised by Golden Relations in conjunction with iloveqatar.net, Team Creation, Tasaker.com, Record On, Creative Design Qatar and LIA Qatar.
Golden Relations CEO Bilal Taha said: “Comedy is still the best reliever against stress and worries and at the last comedy show we saw how really people missed to laugh.”
“The mixture of comedians from different countries provided a fresh show, highlighting different cultures and traditions. We are very happy to see more and more people in this country patronising this brand of entertainment,” he added.
The show was opened by Palestinian student Issa el-Fahoum, 15, and the youngest member of the group won over the audience with his anecdotes about student life.
“For a newbie like me, this is an unforgettable opportunity to be able to perform alongside big names like Edwin San Juan and Shawn Felipe,” he said, adding “it was an amazing experience. I would love to be a part of LXC again.”
Felipe, who made his first appearance in Doha, proved hugely popular with his jokes on Asian cultural differences.
Making his second appearance as part of the LXC series, Filipino American star San Juan was his typically uninhibited self and received a fantastic response from the audience.
Qatari comedian Mohamed Fahad Kamal entertained the audience once more while other local acts, Halal Bilal and Said Purple showed off their own brands of comedy.
“I appreciate the opportunity of joining LXC. The show was truly an indelible experience! Just to be able to perform alongside such great comedians and feed off the pure energy and enthusiasm of the audience is something that can only be described as outstanding,” Purple said of his experience at the LXC.
