| Parashar addressing a meeting of parents at DMIS |
Dr Sadhana Parashar, who is one of the main guiding forces behind the introduction of the CBSE International scheme was addressing a meeting at Doha Modern Indian School. The DMIS is one of the four institutions in Qatar where the curriculum has been introduced.
While dispelling apprehensions of the parents and students, Dr Parashar highlighted the analytical and critical thinking in the new system which she said would help to develop children’s capabilities in coming years.
The CBSE official said there is no reason for parents to panic over the board examination for Grade 10. The purpose is to ensure that the students did not suffer in case anyone wanted to revert to the regular CBSE stream, she said.
The official, who is also responsible for C-TET, the Central Teacher Eligibility test, conducted for the first time by the CBSE, said the sample papers uploaded in the CBSE portal would help both the teachers and students to prepare well for the forthcoming examination. The board examination will carry 40% weightage, she said.
Parashar, a Fulbright scholar, is co-ordinating many innovative reforms in the CBSE like implementation of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) and monitoring and mentoring strategic leadership development across schools affiliated to the CBSE within India and outside.
The official is also credited with the comprehensive school health programme, a national initiative focusing on health policy of school children.
