Over the years, the relations between Vietnam and Qatar have witnessed significant development, said Le Hong Pham, the ambassador of Vietnam in Doha.
The ambassador was addressing a diplomatic reception held by the embassy to mark the occasion of the 66th National Day of Vietnam. HE Saad bin Ibrahim al-Mahmud, Minister of Education and Higher Education was present on the occasion as well as ambassadors of different countries, and heads of missions and international organisations.
Pham said the exchange of high-level visits between Qatar and Vietnam, and the signing of numerous agreements and memoranda of understanding have contributed in considerably promoting the bilateral co-operation economically and politically.
“Eleven Qatar Airways flights a week from Doha to Vietnam have brought our countries closer than ever. I am confident that with the existing potential of both countries and their leaders’ determination, the relation between Vietnam and Qatar will be enhanced in the future,” pointed out the ambassador.
The ambassador also said that the Vietnamese people have made important achievements in the cause of national construction and development throughout the past 66 years despite the hardships and sufferings.
He also indicated that Vietnam managed to attain a high economic growth rate during the last decade, remarkably improving the living standards of people.
“Vietnam is among a number of countries, which have completed most of the UN Millennium Development Goals. Our objective is to make Vietnam a mainly industrialised country by 2020,” said Pham.
On behalf of the Vietnamese government and people, the ambassador also congratulated Qatar on its marvellous success in all areas and expressed his high appreciation for Qatar’s efforts and contributions for peace and security in the region.
Further, he thanked the government and people of Qatar for the support and assistance they have extended to the Vietnam embassy in Doha.
