A winner of Nojoom points poses with a cheque alongside Qtel officials
Qtel has urged all its customers to sign up for its innovative e-bill before November 30 when it will move all paper bill customers to paperless options thus making an important contribution to the environment.
Paper bills will still be available after  November 30, but customers will be charged a fee of QR5 per bill if they wish to continue receiving them.
All funds raised via the charge will be re-invested into Qtel’s pioneering e-waste recycling programme, which offers a convenient disposal point for unwanted electronic goods for all of Qatar.
However, the company has distributed more than 1,000 prizes throughout October to show appreciation to more than 55,000 customers, who have chosen to switch from paper bills to its e-bill service.
Ten lucky customers won iPads, while three winners received 25,000 Nojoom points each.
The first 1,000 customers who joined the e-bill were rewarded with 1,000 Nojoom points each that can be exchanged for a wide range of goods and experiences.
The e-bill service sends a PDF bill to customers’ e-mail addresses and removes the need for a paper bill.
By removing the need to send paper bills to thousands of customers, Qtel has been able to reduce the amount of paper used by the company, cutting down on the resources required and energy.
Customers can send a free SMS from their Shahry number of the same account they wish to switch with “EB<space>email ID<space>QID Number” (for instance, EB
[email protected] 123456789) to 114.
They will receive a verification message of the e-mail ID supplied and be immediately switched to the e-bill upon confirmation.
Alternatively, customers can select the e-bill option and provide their e-mail ID in their account page on the eQtel website or they can call 111 and provide their Qatar ID details.
Customers can also switch over in Qtel shops across the country.
