Participants at the awareness campaign
Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), with the help of Kims Qatar, has conducted the first leg of its diabetic awareness campaign for workers at Municipality Labour camp in Wakrah/Messaieed.
The programme was in connection with World Diabetes Day being observed on November 14.
Nearly 200 workers of various nationalities were screened for their blood sugar level and more than 30 who were found diabetic referred for further check-ups.
As part of the event, a seminar was organised by Kims Qatar to brief the gathering on risk factors of diabetes and its prevention methods.
As ICBF plans to reach out to maximum number of workers with diabetes education and prevention programme, two more campaigns will be organised with Kims Qatar,  on November 18 at Al Fowriya Trading and Contracting Company’s labour camp, Wukair in Wakrah and on November 20 and 24 at Fishermen Area, on the Wakrah beach.
Also a symposium will be organised on “understanding diabetes” on November 26 at Addar Hotel, in Al Wakrah.
