Turkish filmmaker Tolga Karacelik’s debut film Toll Booth, which is having its Middle East and North Africa premiere at Doha Tribeca Film Festival 2011 today is a satire-dramedy taking a look at themes of miscommunication and isolation via a father-son conflict.
The film takes a darkly comedic look at a reclusive toll booth attendant living with his ailing father. However, his lonely, humdrum life takes a dramatic turn when he is relocated by his new boss. Serkan Ercan won the best actor award for his performance in the film at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival in Turkey. Zafer Diper, Nur Aysan, Nergis Ozturk, Busra Pekin, Ruhi San, Sermet Yesil, Iskender Bagcilar and Faruk Karaçay round out the cast.
Today’s screening is at Katara screening hall 3 at 9pm.
The other screenings are tomorrow (DFI Cinema 5 at Katara, 7.30pm) and on Saturday (City Center Doha Cinema 4, 5.30pm).
