Dignitaries and guests at the Qatar National Convention Centre yesterday

The Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), which will host the key World Petroleum Congress in December, will provide 40,000sq m of exhibition space, a conference hall for 4,000 delegates, and banquet space for up to 10,000 guests, among other exquisite facilities.
The design of the QNCC by renowned Japanese architect Arata Isozaki evokes a “sense of place rooted in Qatar’s heritage”.
The façade resembles two intertwined Sidra trees reaching up to support the exterior canopy.
Dignitaries and media were taken on a tour of the facility yesterday.
The exhibition space is divisible into nine halls, a 2,300-seat lyric style theatre, three-tiered auditoriums and some 57 additional rooms.
An “intelligent architectural design” offers spacious pre-function and registration areas, hospitality and media rooms, VIP lounges and strategically located back-of-house service areas.
