Children enjoying a ride at Doha Park

Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and Doha Park 2011 organisers have reduced ticket rates for rides at the park by 50% between Sunday and Wednesday to encourage more families to visit during the week, it was announced yesterday.
In a move to address public concerns about the event, which has received more than 22,000 visitors and with some 50,000 tickets sold since opening last Thursday, they are also making a special offer of a QR150 coupon on every QR150 spent to play games or to go on rides.
Organisers have also added six new rides and games to the park’s selection, many of which have not been seen in Qatar before, bringing to 40 the number of amusement rides on offer.
Gulf Times had on Saturday reported about visitors complaining of exorbitant prices of rides and parking charges at the park.
However, the QTA and organisers of Doha Park 2011 have denied any knowledge of charging visitors for parking while urging anyone asked to pay a fee for parking to immediately report to the officials concerned.
Doha park has met with unprecedented demand since opening last Thursday, with families, including young and old, enjoying the circus, carnival games and live entertainment.
