Ministry of Interior officials delivering a lecture on ways to ease Haj pilgrims’ procedures at the Abu Samra border post
The Borders Posts Department has increased the numbers of the counters and staff at the Abu Samra border post and adopted simple procedures for Haj pilgrims so as to avoid delays and waiting, a senior official of the Ministry of Interior has said.
“Ensuring the comfort and peace of mind of pilgrims while they are at the Abu Samra border is the objective of the Ministry of Interior and we spent maximum efforts to overcome any difficulty they might face,” Borders Posts Department director Col Nasser bin Abdullah al-Thani said while delivering a lecture at Fanar Auditorium recently.
The lecture was organised by the Abu Samra Border Post Committee in co-operation with Qatari Haj Safety and Security Committee for the Qatari Haj campaigns and their administrative staff.
The lecture covered several instructions for ensuring the safety and comfort of pilgrims while they exit and enter Qatar through Abu Samra and Salwa border posts. 
Director of the HR Department of the Ministry of Interior and member of Qatar’s Haj Committee Col Hussain al-Jaber and chairman and members of the Haj committee were present.
Col al-Thani gave some guidelines and instructions related to the organising and administrative affairs of the Haj and advised the campaign officials to select qualified and experienced administrative staff for each campaign.
They should explain all matters to the pilgrims before Haj, especially those related to the exit and entry through the border in order to avoid delay and waiting there.
He also urged the owners of Haj campaigns to appoint administrative staff for each bus and not to entrust the bus driver to finish the border procedures.
“We have co-ordinated with Saudi Arabia’s border post authority to put a mechanism for the exit of the pilgrims from Abu Samra border post and for their entry to the Salwa border post in different times in order to ease exit and entry procedures in each border posts without rush,” he added.
Col al-Jaber said this is the first time the ministry had organised a lecture of such kind and henceforth it will be held every year.
A group of capable personnel from the Qatari police force will join the Qatari Haj mission to provide necessary support for pilgrims while they perform the Haj, he added.
