As many as 81% of students achieved five or more passes at grades A+ - C compared with the UK average of just under 70%. At Advanced level the QIS pass rate was 96%.
Many of the students have taken up offers of places at universities in the UK, Qatar and the US.
Academic principal Doherty said: “Our students are particularly well-motivated and not only do they work hard at their academic subjects, they are keen to become involved in the life of the school and the community of Qatar. The teachers are very proud of their achievements.”
With the new term well under way the school is full in most year groups with many names remaining on the waiting list. This term, new subjects have been added to the curriculum and the school has seen the first stage of the completion of its building programme; further developments are planned as the school moves into the next stage of its development.
QIS, an English-speaking independent day school located in Doha, follows the national curriculum of England for students ranging between three and 18 years of age.
The school was founded by Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed bin Thani al-Thani and the previous principal, Griffin. QIS started in 1977 as a small pre-school in the Muntaza area. The primary section was opened in 1985 followed by the secondary section in 1994.
