“Within the coming year these halls will see several local and international events that we are proudly bringing to Qatar, kicking off with our very own Annual Research Forum, and ending with an international conference on Stem Cell Science and Policy,” he said.
Haoudi spoke at TESOL International Association’s “Putting Research into Practice” conference, addressing language researchers, experts and practitioners at the opening of QNCC’s first event.
Haoudi emphasised research as the “beginning of a way forward”, and an integral part of Qatar’s strategic development agenda and Qatar Foundation’s mission to support the country’s transformation from a hydrocarbon-based economy to a knowledge and innovation-based economy.
He stated: “At Qatar Foundation, we have worked to enhance the research culture in Qatar, create excitement among our youth about science and research and hoped and planned for the day when Qatar will become a regional and global hub for research, science and technology innovation.”
“Today’s TESOL research conference does not only mark the opening of another great facility that we are proud and excited to see in action - it is also the realisation of a vision,” he added.
Qatar Foundation’s second Annual Research Forum, scheduled to take place at the QNCC from November 20 through 23, will focus on the globalisation and democratisation of scientific research.
“By highlighting leading research efforts across various disciplines, the forum will serve as a venue for intellectual exchange and collaboration between researchers and scientists from developed and developing countries,” said a spokesperson.
The forum will also serve as a platform for integrating research efforts around Qatar into a clear national agenda, encouraging greater collaboration among researchers and building research capacity among Qatar’s youth population, he said.
And the event will offer professional networking opportunities for young researchers and inventors, who will be able to interact with renowned international experts through a series of panel discussions, workshops and presentations.
