In welcome, Welch stated: “We are happy to welcome President Isaacson to ASD and thank him and ConocoPhillips for their generous support of our various activities.” She went on to add: “This year’s contribution will spread to cover a number of ASD activities including our annual spring Friendship Festival, sponsored by COP for the last four years, our annual calendar and the ASD Wonderland Ball, the highlight of our social calendar.”
She continued: “Our school shares Qatar’s large aspirations to provide all our students with the very best of education. We are strongly motivated to bring together research based western best practices with our host nation’s vintage heritage and traditions. Such an endeavour is only made possible through the support of leading responsible corporate citizens such as ConocoPhillips.”
Speaking at the school, Erec Isaacson stated: “We are happy to continue to support the American School in Doha, a tradition that we have adopted since 2006.” “ConocoPhillips believes in investing in sustainable development in the communities in which we operate,” explained the COP Chief in Qatar. “In addition to our investment in university-level and higher-education programmes, we give special attention to preK-12 outreaches, specifically those that encourage careers in engineering and technology. ASD students have made it all the way to some of the world’s most prestigious universities including Harvard, WestPoint and Columbia.”
He concluded by stating: “ConocoPhillips is looking forward to continuing its support of ASD as part of our steadfast commitment to education and youth worldwide and in Qatar.”
