A total of 50 women congregated at Fanar Islamic Cultural Centre to celebrate Ramadan together in traditional Qatari style.
The event began with casual networking in Fanar’s majlis, and then moved into its auditorium for a presentation by a Fanar scholar about the meaning of Ramadan and its traditions.
After the presentation, the attendees were invited to break their fast with dates, water and labnah in the majlis. After enjoying this simple treat to end their fast, the women proceeded to Fanar’s mosque for evening prayers.
An Iftar followed, giving the women opportunity to taste traditional Qatari dishes and learn more about each other. “This Iftar was the perfect way to celebrate Ramadan together and learn more about Islam and its traditions with a group of 50 diverse women representing different nationalities, religions and professions,” QPWN founder and leader Christina Zini said.
“Not only did the attendees learn more about Ramadan through this celebration, but they also had an opportunity to make new connections and contribute to make donations for the starving children in Somalia.
“Partnering with Fanar on such an event reflects QPWN’s strong desire to deepen cultural understanding while helping women to network and build their leadership skills,” she added.
