| The QU delegation during the reception held in Canada |
QU’s College of Shariah professor and member of DICD Board of Directors, Dr Hamed al-Marwani, supervised the trip which was aimed to prepare young female Muslims “to carry a tolerant message of Islam to others in a way that combines traditions with modernity and to understand and respect each others’ ideas and customs”. Another goal was to introduce the Canadian hosts to Qatari culture and traditions. The trip also aimed to strengthen and develop QU delegates’ skills in English and French. The students organised a Qatari cultural night to showcase Qatar’s heritage, culture and development. Qatar’s ambassador to Canada, Salem Mubarak al-Shafi, hosted a reception in honour of the QU delegation. Many senior Canadian officials also attended.
