Qatar Railways Company (RAIL) in co-operation with volunteers from the Qatar Centre for Voluntary Activities has celebrated the traditional Garangao night in an attempt to revive the local heritage.
Garangao night is celebrated on the 14th of Ramadan and has a special ambiance in Qatari culture.
It is a celebration when families and neighbours exchange greetings and food, while children dress up in traditional attire with girls wearing embroidered dresses and boys sporting new clothes and embroidered caps.
As part of the celebrations, the RAIL sent greeting cards to all employees and senior executives, as well as to local social and medical institutes including patients at the Rumailah Hospital, Hamad Hospital’s Children clinic, the Dhreima Foundation and the Qatar Foundation for the Elderly.
Highlights of the event organised and managed by RAIL’s communications team led by communications director Hassan al-Saei, included bilingual presentation on the importance of the celebration to the Qatari community.
