More than 350 participants, including women and children, attended an Islamic seminar in Tamil organised on Thursday by the Qatar Indian Thowheed Centre (QITC) at the Al Khor Sports Club’s indoor hall.
The main speaker at the event, sponsored by the Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF), was Mohamed Dhaha, visiting professor from the Thowheed Islamic College in Salem, Tamil Nadu. He spoke on ‘Explore Qur’an’.
Earlier, QITC local scholar Mohamed Thameem gave a lecture on ‘Who are Thankless People?’ while Islamic scholar from Saudi Arabia Markaz, Abdus Samad Madani spoke on ‘Who are the people of Badr?’. He also led the Isha and Taraweeh prayers.
QITC general secretary Mohamed Ali distributed prizes to winners in a contest titled ‘Written Islamic exam for adults’, which was conducted in July. Maartin Look from Laalgudi of Tamil Nadu, who requested for a translation of the Holy Qur’an, was given a copy during the seminar.
QITC president Dr Ahmad Ebrahim welcomed the participants to the gathering chaired by QITC vice president Mohamed Ali Jiyawudheen while secretary Thasthageer proposed a vote of thanks.
