QVBA technical director Hussain Imam Ali discussing with ambassadors

The second day of the first-ever Communities Volleyball League saw packed stands at the Qatar Sports Club Indoor Hall.
An estimated 2,500 volleyball enthusiasts and fans of the teams from Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Lebanon came to cheer and support their respective teams.
The ambassadors from Bangladesh and Nepal also turned up to watch the matches between their countries.
The diplomats praised the Qatar Volleyball Association (QVBA) initiative.
“It has raised the morale of every foreign worker in Qatar … that they could contribute to the goals of QVBA by participating in the League, and for the fans and spectators to be able to come, watch and enjoy the games with any boundaries, promoting Qatar National Olympics (QNOC) vision and mission of ‘Sports for Life’,” Nepal Ambassador Surya Nath Mishra, said.
The first match was between Bangladesh and Nepal.
The Nepal Team emerged the winners, scoring 25-10 25-11.
Bangladesh Ambassador MD Shahadat Hossain commented: “The fighting spirit of the Bangladesh Team … was the best part of the match. We do not have a formal volleyball team … this team was formed just to participate in the first-ever communities league.”
The second match was between Pakistan and Lebanon.
Pakistan emerged victor with 25-18 25-23.
The next matches will be held tomorrow (August 19). At 9.30pm would be Sudan vs. Iran, and at 10.30pm would be Bangladesh vs. India.
Volleyball Officiating Club (VOC) and Qatar Volleyball Association (QVBA) Organising Committee team member Nishi T Rafols said: “The following matches will surely draw a larger crowd … thus we would recommend to our partner, QVBA, to look for a larger venue to house upcoming volleyball matches.”
QVBA technical director Hussain Imam Ali said: “Everyone in the Qatar community is invited to watch the matches and enjoy the excitement, at the same time build bridges to promote the vision and mission of QVBA and its partners.
“For updates of the league, the local print and media partners would be publishing the results of matches and news about the Community Volleyball League.”
