Al Ahli Hospital  officials during a press conference yesterday

Al Ahli Hospital will, within the next three months, begin an expansion drive of its existing facilities to accommodate a paramedic centre and additional space for community doctors’ clinics, which will provide a channel for exchange of services with smaller polyclinics across the country, it was announced yesterday.
The expansion project, spanning a land area of 5,000sqm, will include additional support services such as operating theatres thus creating space for additional 12 beds in the labour rooms and some 20 more in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Presently, the hospital has 250 beds and there are plans to have 100 more by the end of the project in last quarter of 2014.
“We have received strong expressions from practitioners in the polyclinics regarding their willingness to work with us in the community clinics and on our part, we will consider those with very good qualifications and based on international standards,” A A H managing director’s adviser Jamal Saleh Hammad said in a press conference yesterday.
According to the adviser, the hospital is also stepping up efforts at improving the newly introduced Medical Commission testing services being offered to a select category of the workforce.
The MC tests required by newly arrived expatriates primarily include a radiological and laboratory tests followed by a simple medical examination and the MC had allowed A A H and two other private hospitals to accept expatriates including newly arrived female employees.
“We will implore persons interested in having their MC tests done in A A H to pre-register online at the Supreme Council of Health’s website by clicking A A H as their choice a day before coming to the hospital for the actual testing, to allow us to complete their booking and input their information into our system,” he explained.
All applicants may also make prior appointments by calling the hospital MC tests hotline numbers on 44898292 or 55087832 and the test unit is open from Sunday through Thursday from 8am to 4:30pm.
On treatment of guests with health insurance policy, A A H deputy chief executive officer Khalid Abdulaziz al-Tamimi said that the hospital has already established links with about 17 insurance companies both in and outside Qatar which guests can pick from.
As per its parent company Medicare Group’s interim consolidated financial statements, total assets of the hospital stood at QR814.4mn while total shareholders liabilities’ equity reached QR735.7mn as of June 30.
