Nasser al-Jaber ... ‘promoting joy, unity and brotherhood’
To celebrate the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, private companies and charitable organisations are hosting Iftars and other events across Qatar to promote solidarity and brotherhood.
Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) inaugurated the third annual ‘Iftar and brotherhood with expat communities programme’ by holding the first Iftar for the Bangladeshi community last Friday at the Gharrafa
Sports Club.
The event is a part of its Ramadan charity activities for about 10,000 expatriates from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
The second Iftar of the series was held for about 500 Malaysians on Saturday evening at Tariq bin Ziyad secondary school in New Salatha area. The programme started at 6pm and continued until 11pm, and included a welcome note by Musthafa Jameel - head of community services section at RAF, a felicitation speech by Malaysian ambassador to Qatar Ahmed Zahri, an awareness lecture presented by Faisal al-Hudawi from Ministry of Interior (MoI) on vehicle safety, a security and safety awareness film by MoI and a religious speech by a prominent Malaysian scholar after Tharaweeh prayer.
Qatar First Investment Bank (QFIB) commenced its ‘Ramadan Blessings Campaign’ by hosting its third annual Iftar for the children of the Dhreima Qatar Orphan Foundation at Katara. The Iftar is the first of several community-based activities in which QFIB management and staff will take part in during Ramadan.
After breaking their fast in a festive atmosphere, Dhreima’s children and QFIB employees had a unique opportunity to participate in an art workshop conducted by world-renowned British calligrapher, Sabah Arbili, who volunteered his time to engage the children in colouring an art piece he had specially designed for the occasion.
Arbili was recently showcasing and auctioning his work at “Al Joud Exhibition,” which was organised by Qatar Islamic cultural centre Fanar at Katara earlier in April.
The exhibition was supported by QFIB and proceeds went towards funding Reach Out To Asia’s (Rota) educational projects in
Pakistan.
Ezdan Real Estate and RAF have also scheduled various programmes, which are open to all Qatar
residents.
Ezdan Real Estate, on the 11th, 12th and 13th days of Ramadan, will present religious discourses at the Ezdan Hotel. There will be a session dedicated to religious songs as well during the Ramadan celebrations.
Ezdan Real Estate has also arranged two exhibitions during the 11th, 12th, and 13th days of Ramadan. A rare photo exhibition, presenting religious pictures of Holy Makkah, collected over 200 years, will be put up at the Tower Three of the Ezdan Hotel. The photographs will be arranged on 30 big stands.
In another exhibition on the same days, religious photographs with details about them will also be
exhibited.
On the 14th, 15th and 16th days of Ramadan, Ezdan Real Estate will hold the Garengao. Packets of sweets will be offered to children, irrespective of religion and background. About 15,000 gifts will be given away to bring smiles on the faces of the small boys and girls at various social, marketing, and health care places in Qatar.
Nasser al-Jaber, manager of logistics affairs at Ezdan Real Estate, while extending his heartiest wishes to all, said: “We are delighted to welcome another great festival of Ramadan, which symbolises joy, unity and brotherhood.”
