Sheikh Saud: Ramadan greetings
Sheikh Saud bin Nasser al-Thani, CEO of Qtel, yesterday offered Ramadan wishes for all in Qatar, as the whole community marked the beginning of the holy month.
Sheikh Saud said: “A joyous Ramadan to everyone in Qatar, full of patience, forgiveness, mercy and the acknowledgment of good deeds - the essence of the most important month of the Islamic year. This is an important time of the year to consider the fundamentals of life, and to reach out to our loved ones and to people throughout Qatar.”
The sundook, or traditional Qatari memory chest, is the motif of Qtel’s Ramadan campaign this year, reflecting the company’s support for traditional culture.
Throughout the holy month, Qtel’s campaign will take people on a Ramadan journey via two characters, a grandmother and her grand-daughter, who, through their sundook, revive pleasant memories of the traditions of Qatar.
A special convoy of trucks and Land Cruisers, called “The Box of Goodwill,” will also travel throughout Qatar during the holy month of Ramadan bringing joy to families across the country.
Qtel is supporting the campaign as part of its wider CSR strategy, “For Qatar, Hand in Hand.” Education and social welfare are key themes within Qtel’s approach, along with a wide range of charitable initiatives.
For Ramadan, Qtel has announced special offers designed for mobile and mobile Internet,  “to fuel closeness and sharing here in Qatar and with friends and family abroad”.
“Qtel mobile customers, whether on Hala or Shahry accounts, can enjoy frequent communication with loved ones, thanks to a lowest-ever-in-Qatar rate of only QR0.35 per minute for both local and international calls.
“When it comes to sending Ramadan greetings and sharing prayers with family and friends, a companion mobile Internet offer of QR0.35 for 1MB encourages connecting throughout the holy month,” a spokesman said.
