Qatar Charity (QC) has allocated QR23.5mn for its Ramadan projects, which will benefit 1mn people inside and outside of Qatar.Solidarity and public projects will be implemented inside Qatar, costing QR10.5mn, benefiting 326,000 people.
Another QR4.5mn has been dedicated to Iftar projects in Qatar for the benefit of around 230,000 people during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
In addition, food aid will be offered to poor and low income families as a ‘Ramadan Gift’. Zakat al-Fitr will also be distributed to the needy with a budget of QR1.5mn.
QC has also organised a number of cultural projects and public events such as the public programme (Al-Baraha) in the cultural district, ‘Katara’, which targets families and children, the Doha Qur’an Radio Station ‘Taraweeh’ programme, presented by Abdul-Rahman al-Harami, and the Bed Fund ‘Ramadan Calendar’, which targets families and children and incorporates a number of interactive activities as a daily achievement, a money box for donations and a game.
Iftar tables, costing QR5mn, will be implemented outside Qatar in 30 countries, benefiting 600,000 people, with a particular focus on disaster zones such as  Somalia, Palestine and Yemen. 
These projects also include Zakat al-Fitr, benefitting 50,000 people, and orphan packages and gifts for 40,000 orphans.
Contributors have the opportunity to support three Ramadan products: Zakat al-Fitr distribution to the poor and orphan sponsorship and development projects, as Qatar Charity’s relief campaigns in Somalia and other disaster stricken countries, continue.
QC has established a department for the Zakat account, responding to queries  related to Zakat. This department, which is run by an expert team, carries out the following tasks: handling cash, stocks, trade, construction, employment earnings and cattle and calculating Zakat for corporate budgets of commercial and industrial activities, after ensuring its legitimacy under the supervision of Zakat experts. Requests are received and responded to via personal visits, as well as by telephone and fax.
The Zakat department is open from 8am to 12pm throughout the month of Ramadan, and until 2am in the last ten days.
Thanks to the Zakat of its supporters, QC is able to offer its services to thousands of recipients within the State in various fields including: sponsorship of low-income families and widows, treatment of medical conditions, helping debtors, supporting students of needy families, and providing training and rehabilitation within the economic empowerment for families project.
