CENG students at the graduation ceremony with senior Qatar University officials
Qatar University's College of Engineering (CENG) honoured 95 female and 75 male graduates at a ceremony held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel recently.
The ceremony was attended by faculty members, staffers, parents, and special guests.
Awards were presented to top three male students - Mohamed Ahmed al-Nuamani, mechanical engineering (GPA 4.0), Mohamed Ahmed al Shaabi, chemical engineering (GPA 4.0), and Ali Naser al-Bakri, mechanical and industrial engineering (GPA 3.98).
Top female students were Reem Fahd Khair (GPA 3.97), Ruba Waleed Salem (GPA 3.91), and Dania Waheeb Khayal (GPA 3.89), from the mechanical and industrial engineering department.
In his opening remarks, CENG dean Dr Mazen Hasna said: "This day opens the way for graduates to start their professional life to implement the theoretical knowledge they acquired which will add value to the future positions that they will occupy.
"You have passed the training and academic phase and are entering the next phase of commitment and hard work to build the country and support the industrial sector.
Qatar is witnessing a rapid course of development and needs professional and highly-qualified engineers who will contribute to its advancement".
Former CENG dean Dr Nabeel Salem said the college, through 40 years of education, continued to deliver high quality engineers, and serving the country in different areas.
He noted that the days at the university life are among the best moments in one's life and graduates will always remember them.
A comic-dramatic play on life at university and its challenges was enacted by a group of students. It was followed by the screening of a film in which deans, heads of department and students shared their thoughts.
