The Qatar chapter of the alumni association of NSS College, Changanassery in Kerala, has been formed.
The office-bearers were elected at a gathering held at Asiana Restaurant in the weekend.
Speaking at the meeting that followed, association president Varghese Mathew said that their forum would soon join the Confederation of Alumni Associations of Kerala (Caak), which is under the aegis of the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC).
Mathew also said that the local alumni chapter would be affiliated with the Confederations of Alumni Associations of NSS College in Changanassery.
NSS College, based in Changanassery, boasts of more than a dozen mainstream and professional colleges in India's Kerala and Tamil Nadu states.
The forum also runs close to 50 aided and unaided schools.
Mathew said among the objectives of the alumni association are to promote socio-cultural activities and provide opportunities to children of the members to demonstrate their talents.
The forum also proposes to introduce endowments and support financially weaker students who excel in academics.
General secretary K Jayakrishnan proposed a vote of thanks.
