Al-Jaidah with the final batch of participants of the OHFP

The Qatar Petroleum (QP) Medical Services has concluded its intensive training programme on occupational health, achieving a milestone of more than 300 participants trained over a 15-month period.
The Occupational Health Foundation Programme (OHFP) was first launched in April 2010 and a total of 302 participants have successfully completed the training since.The participants consisted primarily of QP’s healthcare staff, key personnel from QP’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) directorates and departments, as well as Qatari nursing students from the College of the North Atlantic-Qatar.The main objective of the training programme was to provide attendees with foundation knowledge on the basic functions of occupational health services in the oil and gas industry in order to enhance the level of support in occupational health service delivery to QP.The two-day training was unique in its content and has received accreditation from the Medical Education Department of Hamad Medical Corporation.The programme was fully developed in-house by a team of occupational health professionals under the medical services department, with the support of QP’s corporate training department.Mahmood Abdulrahman al-Jaidah, manager of Medical Services at QP, highlighted the importance of occupational health services in the petrochemical industry and he also emphasised the key role played by healthcare professionals in supporting QP’s occupational health services.The guest of honour was director of administration Ahmad Ali Abdulla al-Mawlawi, who presented a “Certificate of Appreciation” to each member of the entire training team.Also present during the event were Nasser Mohamed Ali Mubarak, manager for Corporate HSE Support, and Abdulla Saoud al-Kuwari, manager for HSE Technical and Supervision, who distributed a “Certificate of Attendance” to each of the final batch of participants.
