The necessity of preserving and protecting the nature amidst developmental actions was highlighted by a former Indian federal minister on Friday at the inauguration of an environmental campaign launched by a Doha-based social forum.
Speaking at the launch of the Focus Qatar’s Eco-Senate campaign at Shemford Noble International School, Kerala’s Mathrubhumi Group of Publications managing editor and Socialist Janata Party president M P Veerendra Kumar stressed the importance of forming social networks having focus on systematic eco-friendly campaigns aimed at delivering good for people all over. “At a time when the information and communication technology has developed considerably, such eco-friendly forums could play effective roles at the local, regional, national and international levels to protect the interests of mankind,” said the former federal minister.Developmental issues have posed vital questions on the existence of human being everywhere and it is high time alternatives are found to answer critical issues confronting the mankind, he said. Kumar also told the gathering to be aware of the fast dwindling water resources everywhere and the necessity of people looking at such critical issues more seriously than ever before.Reiterating in no uncertain terms that the over-exploitation of water resources would lead to untold miseries to the people in future, he said it is high time people realise the sacrifice one would have to make in the future to have fresh water, air and consumable food. A natural shortage of any of this could eventually lead to severe environmental problems, and even deadly diseases, he said.
