Ambassador Khanzada launching the PEF souvenir
Pakistan Engineers Forum (PEF) celebrated a well-attended grand finale event recently.
Organised by the outgoing executive committee, it was graced by Pakistan Ambassador Mohamed Sarfraz Ahmed Khanzada, PEF members and their families and guests from the community.The programme started with the outgoing president Nadeem Bashir summarising PEF’s achievements in their two-year tenure. He highlighted the support, in cash and kind, extended by PEF to flood relief efforts in Pakistan last year.  He also presented a list of technical sessions that were conducted during 2009-2011 in line with the objective  of disseminating information and knowledge to fellow engineers in the  community. This was followed by a quiz organised by Asfandiar Ansari.   Next, a number of launching ceremonies took place. These included launching of a professionally revamped PEF website, the robotic  club and its first winning team. The launching session ended with a ribbon cutting  ceremony of PEF souvenir 2009-11 by the  envoy.An Urdu poetry competition (biat-bazee), conducted by Tahir Jamil, proved to be very entertaining, and almost everyone participated with verses on the topics they picked up from a lucky draw.The mode of the get-together changed to a general body when a new executive committee selection was announced with general consent from the membership. The new committee will be lead by Badar Sohail, who had been the PEF president in the past and was instrumental in its growth.A memento of appreciation was presented to the ambassador, leading newspapers, airlines and those who co-operated in transporting flood good relief to Pakistan and extended their support in making the 2009-2011 tenure very successful, not just for PEF but, for the entire community. The event closed with remarks from the envoy.
