Jaidah Group, Doha’s multi-service, multi-product importer and retailer and its Heavy Equipment Division (HED) are to sign a joint venture (JV) agreement with the US engine technology and power generation experts Cummins.
The agreement between the Qatari and US conglomerates – which will come into force in October 2011  – will see the JV, Cummins Qatar, offer Cummins’ products exclusively in Qatar and work together under the ‘umbrella’ of the agreement to service the needs of the local market.
At the recent Project Qatar 2011 exhibition, the HED showcased its broad range of industrial plant and machinery from world-class manufacturers.  Of particular interest to visitors to the Jaidah Group stand at the Doha Exhibition Centre were products manufactured by Cummins, particularly its range of portable electricity generators. “It was this public interest that led to both parties seeking out a partnership through the impending JV,” a Jaidah spokesperson said.
Jaidah group will offer all services relating to the Cummins brand and its products through its current facilities under the management of the Cummins Qatar. Jaidah Group COO, Bengt Schultz, commented on the venture, said:  “Jaidah Group and its Heavy Equipment Division are delighted to announce the upcoming joint venture with Cummins. The arrangement between these two world-class organisations is something a little bit different for Jaidah Group, but the fact that we’re trying something new serves to underline the flexibility of this organisation in trying to build partnerships with the world’s most prestigious companies.”
