Commercialbank formally opened its 35th full-fledged branch at Al Rayyan on the Doha suburbs last night. The new state-of-the-art branch has been set up as part of the bank’s ‘commitment’ to increasing its presence across Qatar.
The opening of the new branch was held at a well-attended ceremony. Commercialbank Managing Director Hussein Alfardan formally opened the branch in the presence of Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasir bin Faleh al-Thani, director, and Andy Stevens, Group CEO.
QCB’s director Majed al-Turki was among the dignitaries present.
The new branch, which will offer an extensive line of products and services, through highly qualified customer service representatives, is a significant step in the refocus of Commercialbank’s retail network and is expected to add further momentum to the already burgeoning banking sector in the country.

The Al Rayyan branch will offer a full array of retail banking products and services including loan and overdraft facilities, credit cards, deposit products, savings accounts, remittance services, investments, insurance as well as high net worth services.
Another feature at the branch is an ‘exclusive lounge’ for Diners Club International customers’ where they will be offered a ‘complete range’ of finance management solutions.
A ‘brokerage lounge’ will be opened at the new Al Rayyan branch within a few days, Stevens told Gulf Times.
In addition, a separate section is wholly dedicated to Sadara services, offering customers’ wealth management and exclusive one-to-one relationship banking reserved for the ‘privileged few’.
The Al Rayyan branch will also be the operational centre for Commercialbank’s IT department, he said.
The QR22mn branch has a total built up area of 3,400 sq m. Ample car parking facilities have also been provided. There are 64 vehicle parking slots available at the Commercialbank Al Rayyan branch.
Stevens said, “Al Rayyan is a very important area in Qatar. Outside of Doha, it has the largest residential population. And of course, it borders on so many important areas of Qatar. Clearly, Al Rayyan has a huge potential.”
“Our expansion and continued growth in Qatar is a testament to our unwavering commitment to the country and is part of a strategic vision that has long recognised Qatar as an important part of the global economy and financial sector. The opening of this branch is of significant strategic importance to the bank.
“By being physically close to our growing retail customer base it will allow us to serve them better while increasing our presence in this thriving market. We are evolving our branch network to meet our clients’ needs by creating a personalised banking experience that is informative, friendly and accessible. We will continue to provide the high level of service that our customers have always experienced at Commercialbank, and we will do so in state-of-the-art facilities,” Stevens added.
