The Permanent Population Committee (PPC) yesterday held a review meeting of its permanent population policy with over 80 stakeholders present.

Speaking to Gulf Times, PPC vice chairman, Dr Hassan Ibrahim al-Mohannadi, said the event discussed the various goals the permanent population policy had laid out when launched in October 2009.
“We are gauging the implementation of the policy two years after its launch, and will discuss our activities so far this year,” Dr al-Mohannadi said.
“We are also discussing how the PPC can be best aligned with the National Development Strategy 2011-2016 launched recently,” he added.
The day opened with a presentation by the official on the most important activities conducted by the Permanent Population Committee and the goals ahead.
The Permanent Population Committee, which works under the General Secretariat for Development Planning (GSDP), is a national authority whose mission is to realise the harmonisation between population requirements and sustainable development.
The Permanent Population Committee’ policy aims to improve the quality of life for all residents of Qatar (both nationals and non-nationals).
An essential aspect of PPC’s work includes immense co-operation with various government ministries and agencies as well as private institutions.
Representatives of the focal groups of each of the ministries and agencies participated in discussions over four sessions yesterday.
