Jesse Payne, assistant professor of Art, Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, has been elected by the national arts organisation Foundations in Art: Theory and Education (FATE) to serve on its Board of Officers.
Payne (pictured) will be the vice president for development as decided recently at the 2011 FATE Biennial Conference in St Louis, Missouri, US.
He will oversee the advancement and development of new revenue and support opportunities for the growing organisation.
FATE president Scott Betz said Payne was a rare combination of a talented artist and a tenacious entrepreneur.
“We all have good ideas but too few know how, where and when to engage others to make these ideas come to fruition,” he said.
Payne said he was looking forward to continuing his involvement on the board of FATE and hopefully building a relationship between FATE and VCUQatar in the future.
He will serve FATE through the upcoming biennial conference that will be held at Savannah College of Art and Design in the spring of 2013.
FATE is a national association dedicated to the promotion of excellence in the development and teaching of college-level foundation courses in both studio and art history.
FATE members represent independent colleges of art and design, university art departments, and community colleges throughout the US and is represented at most major education conferences to promote the goals of the organisation.
