Ahmed al-Nuaimi and Carlos Enrique Meyer during a meeting
Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) chairman Ahmed al-Nuaimi held discussions with Carlos Enrique Meyer, Minister of Tourism, Argentina and Argentina ambassador to Dubai, Ruben Eduardo Caro, at the Arabian Travel Market Exhibition yesterday in Dubai.
The QTA delegation is to meet trade professionals over the next four days at the exhibition with the intent to form new business relationships and commercial partnerships meant to promote Qatar on the international and regional stage and to attract new business and leisure travellers to Qatar.
During the meeting, they discussed details regarding the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Qatar and Argentina as well the opportunities to exchange tourists and attending of travel and tourism events at each other’s respective countries.
Following the meeting between HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and Argentinian President Cristina Kirchner in January, Qatar and Argentina are working together to further collaborate in the interests of economic, business and tourism opportunities between the two countries.
“We are very keen to further build on our relationship with Argentina and to develop greater opportunities between the two countries to enhance our business, economic and tourism markets across the two nations,” said Ahmed al-Nuaimi.
“We not only see opportunities for significant partnerships between the two countries, but also share similar goals and objectives in further developing our nations in support of each other,” he added.
Known for being a premiere business destination, Qatar has now also expanded its exposure locally and internationally with significant investments in other sectors including culture, education, sport and leisure.
What makes Qatar so unique is the care and diligence with which the government has enriched Qatar culturally. A number of events and attractions such as the Museum of Islamic Arts, Mathaf - the recently opened Museum of Modern Art, Qatar’s annual Marine Festival, Doha Tribeca Film Festival, and Katara - The Cultural Village - all have contributed to placing Qatar firmly on the cultural scene.
This year, Qatar will witness the opening of the National Convention Center at Education City as well as another 35 hotels and hotel apartments with a total of 6,369 rooms and units, all set to cater for the large demand of MICE events coming to Qatar including the World Petroleum Congress.
