A Flower Each Spring’ programme conducted an introductory session on Friday at the zoo on the Qullam plant (Arthrocnemum glaucum), which has been chosen as this year’s plant.
The event attracted some 500 participants. The annual green drive, now in its 13th year, is patronised by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and is conducted by Friends of Environment Centre (FEC). FEC officials said they were satisfied with the remarkable interest shown by the public.
A large number of families and children attended the event which featured several items to introduce the Qullam and 12 previous plants through drawings, research, poetry and short stories on environment. The event ended with distribution of awards.
The programme will move next Thursday to Dossari farm, where around 500 participants are expected.
