Doha Bank is participating in QCF, in compliance with the directives of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, to increase the percentage of Qatari nationals in all sectors.
The bank has set in place a five-year Qatarisation plan in accordance with the directives of its board of directors.
The aim is to attract, train and prepare Qatari nationals who hold secondary school certificates, diplomas, and graduate certificates, but have no work experience. They will be enrolled both individually and collectively in intensive theoretical and practical training programmes ranging from six months up to one year.
These training programmes are designed to qualify the Qatari nationals for holding positions commensurate with their capabilities, and to prepare them for assuming leading positions under the supervision of the Bank’s training centre.

“Doha Bank not only pays attractive salaries, but also provides Qatari employees with numerous benefits to guarantee that they enjoy job security and social stability,” he explained.
These benefits include incentives and allowances for low-grade jobs specifically, and the pursuit of educational opportunities through scholarships granted with a view to obtaining higher academic degrees which will give them the potential to progress further in their careers.
Currently, Doha Bank has 56 Qatari staff on scholarship programmes in prominent educational institutes in Qatar, the GCC countries and Europe.
The Individual Career Plan Training programme for Qatari staff will qualify them for occupying senior positions in the bank’s various departments.
Two successful Qatari employees of Qatar Foundation (QF) shared their experience on the sidelines of QCF 2011 with words of advice for young Qataris.
“Joining Qatar Foundation was an important turning point in my career,” recalled Majid Sultan al-Ali, sports activities co-ordinator at The Education City Student Centre.
The development opportunities offered by QF are one of a kind, he said.
“After two years with Qatar Foundation, I feel every day that I am at the right place and that I can bring in the best of my practical and academic experience,” al-Ali said.
Reem Al Abdul Jabbar, a business operations co-ordinator, was of the view that QF is a place for creativity.
“Working for QF fosters self-development and supports potentials to a staggering level. QF provides wonderful opportunities for careers.”
Al-Ali thinks that alongside working with people who have the best expertise from different parts of the world, working at QF is the best option for a bright future.
“At QF, we enjoy a sense of accomplishment, success and helping others,” he explains.
Reem confirmed the spirit of teamwork that prevails at QF. “We are one team here and work to achieve our high goals together”.
She highlighted the impressive global diversity at QF and observed that “working within this multicultural environment is just amazing”.
She stressed on the importance of sharing experiences with people from around the world to develop performance.
Both Reem and al-Ali urged young Qataris who look to shape their career to approach QF at the Qatar Career Fair.

The company aims to train and develop deserving candidates into world-class employees with the right business acumen to market Qatar’s oil & gas products internationally.
Tasweeq chief executive officer Saad al-Kuwari said employees are offered training programmes based on their vision of an ascending career graph and in the best interest of the organisation and its stakeholders.
The company’s executive director (administration directorate) Abdul Razak al-Meer, observed that the Career Fair has simplified the process of meeting and recruiting qualified nationals for various positions within Tasweeq. “We have successfully achieved the target of 40% nationals in the mainstream workforce, in line with the human resource development within the Qatar National Vision 2030,” he said.
Tasweeq also inducts interns with the right skills and education who are keen to actively participate in on-the-job training programmes.
“We aim to recruit and train a young workforce who can introduce fresh ideas to our business. The Career Fair provides a perfect congregation of candidates keen on beginning a promising career,” human resources director Sharoq al-Malki said.

Tasweeq has recently launched a ‘You Matter’ campaign to engage and motivate employees. It encompasses the latest e-learning methods, and a dedicated employee welfare adviser to clarify and discuss issues employees face and look into their workplace wellbeing.
To enhance the social allowance of employees, Tasweeq also launched a special discount programme, earlier this year.
Qapco, participating in QCF 2011 under the theme ‘Expand your vision, Secure your future with us,’ has seen good response at its stand.
Decorated with images of Qapco’s Qatari employees, the stand is being manned by officials from various sections and departments.
They deal with the job seekers’ enquiries, explain the potential work opportunities and encourage them to join the company.
Qapco, committed to quality Qatarisation, is striving to achieve its objectives in line with the Strategic Qatarisation Plan, and Qatar National Vision 2030.
Qapco’s learning and development manager Nasser Mohamed al-Hajri stated that as part of the company’s Qatarisation policy, it is offering placements for those with university degrees, diplomas or high school certificates.
The recruited staff will be later trained and developed to build the required skills and attain the right performance.
Al-Hajri added that the people with special needs have been included in the Qatarisation plan. Qapco is one of the first companies to provide scholarships to four nationals with special needs.
“The beneficiaries can thus get an excellent academic education, and secure jobs in future,” he said, while recalling that Qapco started to provide scholarships to such students since 2007.
As a token of recognition and encouragement, Qapco holds an annual Qatarisation Day, to award the individual efforts and achievements of its Qatari employees, and also to award the best departments, for achieving Qatarisation, goals and academic excellence recognition.
The stand of ExxonMobil Qatar, diamond sponsor of QCF 2011, was visited by many ambitious Qatari students and graduates.
They were guided and advised by the company’s national development manager, senior Qatari employees and recent Qatari hires about career opportunities.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) pavilion at QCF 2011 has been witnessing a large turnout of Qatari job aspirants, male and female. On Monday during the morning shift, 160 job seekers registered for police jobs while 150 registered for civil posts. Some of the youth aspirants wanted to go abroad for military studies.
The Ministry pavilion has made available all the information regarding employment in the ministry through booklets and brochures that explain the available jobs and the etiquette of security jobs. A special ladies team was available in the pavilion to help the female applicants.
MoI’s Human Resources Department assistant director Captain Mohamed Hamad al-Gayathin and First Lieutenant Nasser Abdullah visited the pavilion of the voluntary committee for employing people with specials needs.
Captain al-Gayathin said that the ministry is keen to employ people with special needs in jobs suiting their capabilities.
One of the job aspirants, Hameed Ayal al-Shamri said that he had applied only in the Ministry of Interior and it is his dream from childhood to be employed in the ministry.
He also added that the ministry is one of the most attractive employers for the Qatari youth. Mohamed Hamad Darfan, another job seeker, said that he would like to get a job in police.
“I will definitely choose the Ministry of Interior in case I am selected by more than one employer as I consider it a national duty to serve the ministry,” he added.
