United Development Company (UDC) and Qatar Professional Women’s Network (QPWN) have jointly hosted an exclusive women’s networking event on the occasion of International Women’s Day at the Oyster, at The Pearl-Qatar.
The the event with the theme: “Enlighten weomen’s minds, empower women’s hearts for a better world” was attended by a number of high profile businesswomen.
During the event, ladies were given the opportunity to win prizes from Noodle House, Biella, Le Deux Magot and Dados - one of Doha’s hidden treasures, a beauty salon located in West Bay.
Guests were also treated to a model presentation of The Pearl-Qatar development, before being guided on a retail tour of island’s luxurious boutiques and high-end restaurants.
The tour concluded at Les Deux Magot,  a Parisian restaurant for an evening of networking and inspiring speeches over lavishing hors d’oeuvres.
“The event truly embraced the international spirit of Doha. These women come from all corners of the globe to exchange cultures. We at The Pearl-Qatar are very pleased to have hosted this event and take part in this cross-cultural community activity,” The Pearl-Qatar Fashion and Retail Leasing executive vice president Kirk Martin said.
QPWN founder Christina Zini spoke about the history of International Women’s Day and women’s role in the world.
Other speaker was Think Pink Qatar founder Karen Al Kharouf, who delivered an emotional speech about breast cancer.
Qatariat T&D Holding Company founder and chairperson Buthaina al-Ansari said: “Qatari women were once shadows, hiding behind their designer bags, but we are no longer like this. We are the Sheikha Moza
generation.”
