Participants are seen during the seminar hosted by Commercialbank
Commercialbank hosted recently for its corporate customers a one-day seminar on international trade “Uniform Rules for Demand Guarantees (URDG 758) and Incoterms in international trade”.
The seminar highlighted Commercialbank’s extensive experience in global banking and trade and also provided an insight into real-life practices and issues as well as assisted participants to develop a thorough understanding of the recent changes to uniform rules for demand guarantees and incoterms.
The seminar which was attended by a large number of the bank’s corporate customers not only provided an excellent opportunity to better understand trade rules but also offered an  overview of the economy and a unique outlook into the opportunities in the Qatari market.
Speaking at the seminar, Commercialbank’s Chief Strategic Client Officer Abduljali Borhani said “passing on Commercialbank’s extensive expertise and experience in best practices to our customers is a tangible example of its strong commitment to supporting trade and supply chain businesses in Qatar. We are keen to share comprehensive trade insights, including bespoke insurance solutions, through the newly established joint venture, Massoun Insurance Services, between Commercialbank and Qatar Insurance Company (QIC)”.
Also speaking senior assistant general manager of trade finance and transaction banking Shelton Peiris said “this type of forum gives us the privilege of learning and sharing information and ideas with our valued business customers. The response from the audience has been extremely encouraging and we look forward to hosting similar sessions in the future, on a regular basis’’.
The seminar was conducted by Vincent O’ Brien a highly experienced practitioner of International trade finance and a long standing member of International Chamber of Commerce(ICC) Banking Commission- Paris.
O’Brien has more than 20 years of International trade banking experience and has delivered award winning trade finance technical assistance and training to financial institutions in more than 50 countries around the world. He is also an adviser to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and nominated by the ICC-Banking Commission.
Members of Commercialbank senior management team, including chief corporate banking officer Steve Mullins and general manager (Massoun Insurance Services)  Darren Collinson were also in attendance.
The presentation was followed by a question and answer session in which customers posed detailed questions to the experts.
