Winner Al Mehdy al-Helali receives the key of the vehicle. Below: The new “Blinged” Jeep Wrangler
The Jeep Wrangler, ‘Blinged’ which was showcased during the inaugural Qatar Motor Show last month, was handed over to its new owner, after a prize draw yesterday.
Tunisian Al Mehdy al-Helali was the lucky winner of the draw which took place last week and featured all customers of Qtel Virgin Mobile Services (QVMS) who recharged their account during the competition period.
During the motor show, US company MV Designz were given a brief to create a Jeep Wrangler tailored for the “ultimate desert experience.” “The makeover included the installation a top-of-the-range BBQ in the trunk of the Jeep with electronic activation, a custom lift kit enabling the car’s height to be adjusted, custom wheels and tyres and a high specification audio system,” explained a spokesperson.  After winning the ‘Blinged’ motor, al-Helali said: “Never did I think when I topped up my QVMS account that I would win.  Yes, you dream but never do you think it will come true!  I am very excited to drive home the Blinged Jeep Wrangler  and take my friends and family out into the desert!” Nabil Othman, general manager of United Cars Almana, the sole distributor of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram in Qatar explained that Jeep had been keen to collaborate with MV Designz to create the new bespoke Wrangler.
“This is not the first time “Blinging” has been carried out in Qatar -- customising a car and creating a vehicle that is truly bespoke and unique to you is becoming very popular,” he said, adding, “Jeep is proud to be at the forefront of this developing trend.”
