The Qatari Business Women Association (QBWA) yesterday organised a workshop on ‘innovation’ with emphasis on encouraging members to use creative methods and ideas in improving their services and businesses towards achieving high feats in the Qatar Business Women award, which was launched in December 2007 under the patronage of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.
The award identifies and pays tribute to Qatari women who contribute to Qatari society and economy through their significant professional and entrepreneurial achievements.
It also focuses on women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and managerial qualities in their work.
During the workshop, which was the third by the association, participants were taught creativity skills necessary to achieve goals of increasing the quality of their products and services in order to compete in the prestigious award.
The workshop, which also focused on concept of creativity and innovation in the workplace, was attended by participants who have a track record of creativity in their institutions such as contributing to the development of new types of services, designs or tools for their respective
organisations.
The Qatar Business Women award 2010/2011 was built on five criteria namely: leadership, future goals and financial plans, business, professional and career achievements, and community contribution, participation as well as
innovation.
The award is open for participation in two categories of business and professional and applicants can qualify for a business and professional women’s development certificate accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management by participating in three workshops.
QBWA chairperson Aisha Alfardan said the Qatari society has gone a long way during the past two decades and have achieve a good level of women’s participation in various sectors of the economy.
“We are proud to be part of this integrated system led by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, who is always promoting the role of women and ensuring they achieve remarkable results, in their participation in the economic boom,” she noted.
The QBWA will hold its second “Qatar International Businesswomen Forum” on May 17 and 18.
