Ambassador Wadhwa cuts the ribbon to inaugurate the new Aster Medical Centre in Al Khor while the chairman Dr Moopen and others look on
India-based Dr Moopen’s Healthcare Management Services (DM Healthcare) will establish, in different locations in Qatar, five medical centres and a 50-bed hospital within the next two years, it was announced yesterday.
Of the five planned centres, the group will launch its Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah branches within the coming months.
DM Healthcare, which opened a new branch at Al Khor yesterday, has rebranded the name of its Al Rafa Poly Clinics to include Aster Medical Centre and the group now has five health units across the country.
Currently, the group, which treats up to 12,000 patients per day, has about 300 healthcare establishments with investment worth $500mn across the Middle East and India.
The new medical centre was inaugurated by Indian Ambassador to Qatar Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa in the presence of the DM Healthcare chairman Dr Azad Moopen, managing director (Qatar) Dr Sameer Moopen and medical director (Qatar) Dr Nazar Moopen.
“DM Healthcare has plans to set up five Aster medical centres in the suburbs of Doha within the coming two years and of these five, we will open our Al Rayyan and Wakrah branches in March and June respectively, while the 50-bed general hospital is expected to be ready in two years’ time,” chairman Dr Moopen told journalists.
He mentioned that the land for the construction of the hospital has been identified and approved by the Supreme Council of Health.
Al Rayyan centre is completed while the construction work on Wakra centre is still ongoing.
However, the new Al Khor clinic will offer services in general medicine, gynaecology, dermatology and dental while paediatrics and radiology department are still being planned.
It will have referral facility to enable patients avail services not available in Al Khor clinic from other branches, he said adding that the group also treat patients under insurance scheme.
“We are on the panel of a number of insurance companies, so accepting international insurance is not a problem with us,” he maintained.
Managing director Dr Moopen said: DM Healthcare is happy to announce the launch of Aster Medical Centre in Al Khor. This is the fifth unit of DM Healthcare in Qatar including four medical centres and a diagnostic centre. We also plan to have five new pharmacies soon.”
