Shantiniketan Indian School, Barwa Village
Minister for Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning HE Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz bin Jassem al-Thani will formally inaugurate the Shantiniketan Indian School at Barwa Village, Al Wakrah tomorrow.
School officials were speaking at a meeting yesterday.
The school has been functioning at the Barwa Village since September last year.

Indian ambassador to Qatar Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa and Under Secretary in the Ministry of Education Rabea al-Kaabi, and chairman of Qatari Diar Ghanim bin Saad al Saad will also attend. Saad al-Saad is also the chairman of the school.
The organisers said second secretary of the Indian embassy M R Qureshi and senior officials from the Supreme Education Council are also expected for the inaugural ceremony.
The school has introduced the CBSE-International curriculum in Class 9 and Class 1 along with the main stream CBSE. From next year, the international system would be introduced in more classes. The institution also proposes to start + One classes in the forthcoming academic year, beginning in April.
The school also plans to introduce vocational training programmes to help students find jobs after their Plus 2 classes.
The CBSE has already introduced some vocational subjects as part of their study programmes and such subjects will be included in the school curriculum, according to its officials.
School governing body president K C Abdul Latheef briefed journalists on the institution’s future plans. General secretary K V Abdul Latheef, school principal Mohamed Ismail, headmistress (seniors) Vidya Jacob, KG HM Meherjabeen Hassan, HM (juniors) Radha Narayanan, and academic co-ordinator Jasmine Ahmed were among others present.
