The portal, which provides access to online courses covering topics in information technology and business, offers more than 2,500 different courses and allows for flexible learning.
The Qatar National e-Learning Portal is a platform dedicated to sharing knowledge to educate people and strengthen the economy apart from being a fun, new way to learn that features a smart blend of virtual interactions alongside self-paced lessons.
The programme offers enrollment for individual learners and organisations keen on exploring the emerging trends and willing to strengthen the workforce.
Some 24 organisations and 37 small- and medium-sized businesses in the country are already taking advantage of the e-learning portal.
“Organisations in Qatar are reaping the benefits of providing e-Learning courses to their employees, as it is a cost effective way to enhance employees’ skills and promote a culture of lifelong learning in an organisation,” ictQATAR assistant secretary-general Ali al-Kuwari said.
He explained that the learning portal provided a tangible return on investment for organisations, while helping employees remain on the cutting-edge of their professions.
To further demonstrate the success of the programme, ictQATAR yesterday honoured three organisations in Qatar that have made e-learning a top priority for their employees: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Doha Bank and Qatar Petroleum.
HMC training manager Omar Sweiss was separately honoured for his leadership in implementing e-Learning at the corporation.
During the ceremony attended by some 75 senior managers, human resources executives and training managers from a variety of organisations, the ictQATAR also presented its plans to continued growth of the national e-learning portal and encouraged more organisations to begin taking advantage of it.
“The three organisations honoured today show tremendous forward-thinking in taking full advantage of the offering on the Qatar National e-Learning Portal.
“I especially congratulate Omar for his collaborative approach to integrating e-learning into his organisation’s training and staff development efforts,” al-Kuwari added.
ictQATAR Digital Inclusion manager Reem al-Mansouri stressed that the successful adoption of e-Learning in organisations requires close collaboration with the training managers.
“The training managers are the ones who know their employees and their significant increase in the number of courses taken and major improvements in alignment with employee professional development plans,” she said.
