Patriotic skits and dances that showcased the rich heritage and cultural diversity of India were among the attractions of a programme hosted by Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) at Doha Cinema yesterday evening as part of the country’s 62nd Republic Day celebrations.
A total of 20 items were presented to a capacity crowd. Indian Ambassador Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, senior officials at the embassy, main sponsor Qafco’s industrial relations manager Hamed al-Marwani and prominent members of the community were present.
Students from MES Indian School, Ideal Indian School, Shantiniketan Indian School, Birla Public School, Bhavan’s Public School, Doha Modern Indian School, and DPS-Modern Indian School
performed.
Sanskriti, Kodaca, ICC Dance Class, Indian Women’s Association, Indian Fraternity Front, Thrissur Jilla Souhrida Vedi, Bangiya Parishad, Qatar Tamizhar Sangham, Maharashtra Mandal, Idea Qatar, Utkalika, Kerala Social and Cultural Association, and Gujarat Samaj also
presented items.
The ambassador released a souvenir prepared for the occasion.
Earlier, ICC president K M Varghese welcomed the gathering.
