The Audi e-tron
Audi yesterday presented the Audi e-tron Spyder at the Qatar Motor Show, where company officials spoke about the strength of the brand regionally and internationally and looked ahead to further growth around the world.

The e-tron, “the study of an open sports car,” with plug-in hybrid drive only weighs 1,450kg and can accelerate to 100km/hour in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 250km/hour.

“Thanks also to its low weight, short wheelbase and perfect 50:50 weight distribution for dynamic handling, the Audi e-tron Spyder has all the drivability of a go-kart – good on bends and neutral right up to the very high handling limit,” said a spokesperson.

“The Audi e-tron Spyder features what is without a doubt the most advanced and simultaneously the most consistent evolution of the current Audi design language, while also providing initial hints at the design language of future Audi sports cars,” he said, adding: “It reinterprets the most important design elements that already characterised the previous e-tron concept vehicles.”

Officials spoke with excitement about the new model, listing its many other impressive features before launching the new A6, which is set to make its market debut in the Middle East in the second half of 2011.
