General manager of Ibn Ajayan Auto, Mohamed Yousri said: “We started selling Skoda cars in mid-June 2002, and today after eight successful years we have more than 5,000 Skoda cars now cruising the roads of Qatar.”
“Skoda is currently ranking third after Mercedes and BMW, representing a 17% market share from European makers’ imports to Qatar,” he said, adding “with the contribution, co-operation and support from our partners at Skoda Auto, we will continue our progress and keep our success going.”
Director of international sales for Skoda, Christian Wiegel described 2010 as an “extraordinary year” in the history of Skoda.
Having proven that the brand could double sales within a ten year period, Wiegel said that they intend to do the same thing again in the next ten years.
To that end, the Skoda Yeti made its Middle Eastern debut yesterday, where Wiegel spoke about the “dynamism, safety and comfort feature” of the car.
“We are proud to display it here in Qatar for the first time in the Middle East – a regional premiere,” he said, adding “the Yeti is equipped with a level of traction and off-road performance unheard of in vehicles in this category and introduces a number of simply clever solutions maximising everyday comfort.”
