Alfardan Automobiles has announced that its 2010 sales of BMW and MINI vehicles achieved a 9% increase over 2009 figures. The positive sales growth for the vehicles signals the importance and strength of the Qatari market despite another challenging year for the automotive industry.

Mohamed Kandeel: “An incredible achievement
Contributing to Alfardan Automobile’s solid performance in 2010, the BMW 7 Series achieved a 6% increase in sales, making it Alfardan Automobile’s bestselling vehicle of the year and a testament to the ongoing appeal of BMW’s flagship premium model.
MINI was as popular as ever in Qatar, with an 85% increase in sales comparing with 2009. There was growth across two models: the MINI Hatchback, and MINI Cabrio, with the MINI Hatchback being the best selling model.
Over the next two years, MINI will welcome two new models to its portfolio, starting this month with the launch of the new MINI Countryman, the first MINI that will have four doors, four individual seats and four wheel drive capabilities. It will later be joined by the new MINI Coupé.
Alfardan Automobiles General Manager Mohamed Kandeel said: “In an economic climate that continues to be challenging, a 9% increase in sales is an incredible achievement and confirms the loyalty of our customers and the strength of the BMW brand in Qatar. The love of the MINI brand combined with the launch of six BMW new models in 2010, helped us achieve this solid performance. The BMW 7 series model also performed particularly along with the BMW X5 and BMW X6. We look forward to continuing this success in 2011.
Kandeel said, “We are confident that Alfardan Automobiles is in a strong position to achieve further growth during 2011. We have a number of exciting new models to launch in 2011 that will include the new BMW 6 Series Convertible and Coupé, the new BMW 1 Series M Coupé limited edition, BMW X3 and the new M5. In addition, the two new MINI models will add an exciting new dimension to the brand’s portfolio and will help further the brand’s popularity in Qatar.”
